HYDERABAD: The Board of Intermediate Education has so far declared 57 private junior colleges unauthorised and closed them down..

The Board had inspected nearly half of 2,508 private junior colleges in the State after the death of a student in a parapet wall collapse at Narayana Junior College, Chengicherla in Ranga Reddy district recently.

Talking to media persons after a meeting with the Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy who reviewed issues related to Intermediate Education, Higher Education Principal Secretary Ashutosh Mishra, here on Wednesday said that of 57 colleges declared unauthorised, 33 belonged to Sri Chaitanya Group, 18 to Narayana Group and six to others and were located in Krishna, Chittoor, Hyderabad and Ranaga Reddy districts.

The intention was not to inconvenience students but accommodated in the unauthorised branches.

The students would be shifted to the other branches.

The college managements however could apply for regularisation of these ‘unauthorised’ colleges with relevant documents about safety, security of the building structure, building plan permission and status of amenities.
