Kochi: The Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), Thrikkakara, is organising a two-day national symposium on ‘Towed Array Sonar Systems: Engineering & Technology’ (TASSET 2008) as part of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Golden Jubilee Celebrations. Vice Admiral Sunil K. Damle, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command, will inaugurate the symposium at Anupamam auditorium on the NPOL campus on Friday. About 200 delegates, including defence scientists, naval officers, academic experts and industry representatives, are expected to attend the symposium. A. Sivathanu Pillai, DRDO Chief Controller (Research and Development of Naval Systems) and Chief Executive Officer of Brahmos Aerospace, will deliver the keynote address. Badoria, Director, Bharat Electronics, Bangalore, will offer felicitations. About 60 technical papers will be presented at the symposium. The technological strength of the country in developing sonar systems will be showcased.
