Gilani condoles stampede deaths

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has sent a message to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressing “deep grief and sorrow” at the deaths of 140 worshippers in a stampede at the Chamunda Devi Temple in Jodhpur.

“On behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan, and on my own behalf, I would like to convey my heartfelt condolences on this tragedy. Kindly convey our sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones in the stampede,” Mr. Gilani said, adding that he was “deeply saddened” at the incident.

President Asif Ali Zardari sent a message to President Pratibha Patil, offering his sympathies and condolences to the family members of all those who lost their lives or were injured in the stampede.
