Two-day Tungabhadra stakeholders’ workshop

BANGALORE: A two-day Tungabhadra stakeholders’ workshop began here on Tuesday to discuss various issues, including water allocation, change in land use and fisheries. Chairing the inaugural session, K.V. Raju, Economic Adviser to State Government, urged the participants to discuss whether there was a need to modify the legal framework governing water sharing, use of water in the basin, among other issues.

A recent study, by the ISEC and Society for Promoting Participative Ecosystem Management, on frequent conflicts between stakeholders should be discussed, he said. Representatives of water users’ groups from the basin, scientists and water management experts are participating in the workshop.
