BSNL data backup service

CHENNAI: BSNL Chennai Telephones, in collaboration with OnMobile Global, has launched a phone data back-up service for post-paid subscribers and active GPRS users in Chennai. It will enable customers to retain personal details on mobile phones in the event of loss, theft, damage or upgrades.

GPRS users can go to the link http://pb.bsnl.onmobile.com/bsnlwap/wap and download the free software to backup data. Users without GPRS enablement can subscribe by sending SMS <SUB> to 58989. They can start backing-up by <ADD> <NAME> <NUMBER> or sending their contacts as business cards to 58989.

Monthly subscription is Rs.30. To unsubscribe users have to SMS <UNSUB> to the same number. As a promotional offer, it is being given free to all post-paid users and active GPRS users for one month with effect from October 1.
