South Zone lifts title

VIJAYAWADA: South Zone lifted the D. Venkateswara Rao memorial trophy defeating North Zone by six wickets in the ACA under-14 inter-zonal tournament that concluded at Anantapur on Tuesday.

South Zone garnered six points to top the table. Shyam Sundar’s 101 for North Zone was the highlight of the day. The three-day selection match to pick the ACA u-14 team will commence on Thursday.

The scores: North Zone 217 and 218 in 65.5 overs (Shyam Sundar 101, Naren Reddy four for 25, Siddhartha Reddy four for 16) lost to South Zone 257 and 181 for four in 39.2 overs (Siddhartha Reddy 49 n.o, Surya 46).

Narrow win

Secretary’s XI defeated President’s XI by two runs in the ACA u-19 women’s inter-zonal second one-day match at IGMC Stadium here on Tuesday.

The scores: Secretary’s XI 112 for four in 36 overs bt President’s XI 110 for five in 36 overs (V. Sneha Deepthi 54).

ACA u-14 probables

The following players will play the three-day selection match to pick the ACA u-14 team at RDT main stadium at Anantapur on Thursday.

ACA President’s XI: Naren Reddy, Sai Dinesh, Sri Krishna, Akhil, Manohar, Tejeswar, Ricky, Vamsidhar, Manoj Kumar, Ram Babu, Saleem Baig, Bhima Rao, Koutilya Kumar.

ACA Secretary’s XI: Shyam Sundar, Jayawardane, Akhil Prasanna, Surendra Babu, Surya, Kranthi Kumar, Ashwini Hebbar, Suraj Preetham, Mahesh, Kesava Kumar, Ravi Teja, Siva Kumar, Siddhartha Reddy.

ANU cricket tourney

Acharya Nagarjuna University inter-collegiate East Zone cricket tournament will be organised by Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College from October 15. As many as 14 teams will take part in the knock out tournament which will be held at VRSE College and Machilipatnam’s Noble College. – Sports Reporter
