Their bail applications were rejected after they surrendered before the court. The men were charged by the CBI with criminal intimidation and abetting suicide after the agency concluded that Rizwanur had taken his life.

Four others including Ashok Todi, the father-in-law of Rizwanur, have also been chargesheeted by the CBI following a directive from the Calcutta High Court.

The CBI filed the charge sheet against the seven men on September 22.The body of Rizwanur was found by the side of the railway tracks near here on September 21, 2007, a few weeks after his marriage to Priyanka – a marriage that had not gone down well with the Todi family.
