Office raided, cash seized

Staff Reporter

Tirupur: The sleuths of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption seized unaccounted cash of Rs 10,000 from the office of District Environmental Engineer situated at Kumaran Complex here on Tuesday.

The money was found in a dust bin kept inside the office.

Documents

The DVAC sources told reporters that many incriminating documents were also seized from the office during the raid.

The documents indicated that four Assistant Environmental Engineers posted there had accumulated wealth by being ‘lenient’ on the dyeing and bleaching units, sources added.

Violation

According to DVAC men, the officers did not levy penalty on many units despite the firms clearly violated pollution control norms.

Further investigation is on.

The DVAC team was led by Inspectors T Gnanasekaran and M Selvaraj.
