Tax increase deferred
Staff Reporter
Tirupur: The Corporation deferred the decision to increase property tax rates following stiff opposition from various parties in the council meeting held here on Tuesday.
Mayor K Selvaraj said the administration would now request the State Government to take a decision, since the councillors were divided on the issue for the third consecutive meeting.
G. Savithri of CPI (M) expressed her party’s concern over the proposal to increase the property taxes for residential, industrial and commercial edifices by 25 percent, 100 percent and 150 percent, respectively.
