Panel considers 31 complaints

KOCHI: The Assembly Committee on Petitions settled 29 complaints at a sitting held at the Aluva guesthouse near here on Monday.

The committee chaired by V. Surendran Pillai, MLA, considered 31 complaints while 40 fresh ones came before it. The committee members visited the stone quarry being operated by a private group at Manjapra in the afternoon. The committee looked into issues like the blasting of the rocks, the pollution caused and the unchecked drainage of toilet waste. It directed the Pollution Control Board to study the issue and recommend permanent corrective measures within 15 days. MLAs C.H. Kunjambu, K. Raju, Joseph M. Puthussery, and V.K. Ibrahim Kunju, ADM, K.N Raje, Rural SP P. Vijayan and other officials were present.
