VISAKHAPATNAM: A large number of women from the city participated in the 48-hour Maha Dharna in front of the Collectorate on Monday. The poor who have occupied the Government land in several parts of the city under the banner of CPI (M) are demanding that they be allotted houses and house sites for the last many weeks and resorted to the Maha Dharna. Several leaders of CPI (M) like Ch. Narasinga Rao, K. Lokanadham, M. Subba Rao, R.K.A.S. Kumar, R. Bhagyalakshmi, AIDWA leaders M. Sujata, B. Prabhavati, and others addressed the participants. Collector Sanjay Kumar and Commissioner of Police N. Sambasiva Rao held talks with Mr. Narasinga Rao and others. But no solution could be found as the Government policy was to provide houses only, Mr. Narasinga Rao said.
