Josna’s gold hunt continues

THRISSUR: Over the weekend, she had picked up 8 medals including six gold at the State senior aquatics meet over the weekend. On Monday, on the opening day of the Calicut University inter-collegiate aquatics championship at the Aquatic Complex, Josna P. Joy won four gold and a bronze.

The swimmer from Vimala College, Thrissur, struck gold in the women’s 200m freestyle, 800m freestyle and the two relays, 4 x 200m freestyle and 4 x 100m medley. Her bronze was in the 200m backstroke. Josna, however, couldn’t better any of the existing records. The first day, in fact, produced no new record.

The results: Men: 200m freestyle: 1. K.S. Vivek (St. Thomas, Thrissur), 2. K. Manoj (SKVC), 3. V. Pramod (SKVC) - (2:14.0); 1,500m freestyle: 1. K.S. Vivek (St. Thomas), 2. V. Pramod (SKVC), 3. A. Prasad (St. Thomas) - (20:43.68).

200m breaststroke: K. Manoj (SKVC), 2. V. Krishnadas (St. Thomas), 3. H. Arun (SN, Alathur) - (2:58.0); 200m butterfly: 1. V. Krishnadas (St. Thomas), 2. P. Kumaran (St. Thomas), 3. K. Balasubramanian (SKVC) - (2:32.40).

200m backstroke: 1. V. Vijeesh (SKVC), 2. A. Prakash (St. Thomas), 3. Vijeesh Jayan (St. Thomas) - (2:35.16).

400m individual medley: 1. K. Manoj (SKVC), 2. V. Vijeesh (SKVC), 3. V. Krishnadas (St. Thomas) - (5:30.10); 4 x 200m freestyle relay: 1. SKVC, 2. St. Thomas, 3. Govt., Chittoor - (10:15.2).

4 x 100m medley relay: 1. St. Thomas, 2. SKVC, 3. Govt. Chitoot - (4:30.11).
