Rahul shines as Bangalore City XI gains the upper hand

Bangalore: Rahul Bhatkal’s unbeaten 83 helped Bangalore City XI score 207 against Combined City XI in a KSCA inter-zonal under-19 tournament match that commenced here on Monday.

Combined City XI was 60 for four in 19 overs at stumps.

The scores: Bangalore City XI 207 in 62.5 overs (Rahul Bhatkal 83 n.o., Hardik Munoth four for 77) vs. Combined City XI 60 for four in 19 overs; Bangalore Zone XI 193 in 57.2 overs (S. Sanjay Kumar 41, Md. Sarfaraz Ashraf five for 66) vs. Combined Moffusil XI 145 for six in 30 overs (Rajesh Singh four for 56); Moffusil XI 209 in 63.2 overs (Shishir Bhavani 82, Pradeep Benjamin five for 31) vs. President’s XI 106 for three in 26 overs.

Sohail, Nagaraj win

Sohail Jairaj of Microland and Nagaraj (Ellen Associates) lifted the snooker and 8-ball pool titles in the inaugural Wynwood-Cannon 2008 inter-corporate cue sports tournament, organised by Sonic Boom, at the KSBA hall here.

Sohail, a regular in the State circuit, proved too good for Nasrulla Sheriff of Infosys in the final, winning 60-21, 83-16, 62-30. Nagaraj prevailed 5-2 over D. Vasanth of Naukri.com for the 8-ball pool title.

Entries were restricted to 32 for snooker and 16 for pool. The team events are scheduled to start on October 11 and entries can be registered with www.sonicboom.in

Snooker: Final: Sohail Jairaj (Microland) bt Nasrulla Sheriff (Infosys) 60-21, 83-16, 62-30; Semifinals: Sohail bt Shankarlingam (Infosys) 15-53, 53-21, 60-29; Nasrulla bt D. Vasant (Naukri.com) 89-46, 30-82, 70-28.

8-ball pool: Final: Nagaraj (Ellen Associates) bt D. Vasanth (Naukri.com) 5-2; Semifinals: Vasanth bt Sohail (Microland) 4-2; Nagaraj bt Tapas Kumar Ghosh (Oracle) 4-2.

Tenpin bowling league

The quartet of Hunaid Khokar, Madhusudhan Bhat, Shantanu and Mihir secured the top spot in the team event of the KSTBA tenpin bowling league held at the Star City Bowling Center, Bangalore. The champion finished with a team average of 182.63. Rahul Jain, Sridhar, Brahma and Namratha secured the runner-up spot while trailing the leader by 76 pins.
