MALAPPURAM: Muslims in the State will complete 30 days of Ramzan fasting and celebrate Id-ul-Fitr on Wednesday as the Shawwal new moon was not reportedly sighted anywhere on Monday evening. Panakkad Sayed Mohammedali Shihab Thangal, Kazi to a large number of Mahals, said in a statement here on Monday that the curtain would fall on the holiest Islamic month of Ramzan only on Tuesday. The month of Shawwal will begin on Wednesday, marking the Id-ul-Fitr celebration, he said. Several other Kazis, including All India Jamiyyathul Ulama general secretary Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliar and Kozhikode Kazi Nalakath Mohammed Koya, too have confirmed Id on Wednesday. — Staff Reporter
