BELLARY: Following the recent announcement made by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa that Gulbarga district will be bifurcated and a new district called Yadgir will be create, the Vijayanagar District Horata Samiti in Hospet has renewed its agitation and demanded that a new Vijayanagar district be created by dividing Bellary district. The samiti, which had suspended its agitation when the elections to the State Assembly had been announced in February, 2008, has taken up the issue now again. It has called for a Hospet bandh on Tuesday to pressure the Government into conceding their demand. Vijayanagar MLA B.S. Anand Singh has promised support.
