‘Tough laws will ensure speedy trial of terrorists’

HYDERABAD: Pinky Anand, BJP National Legal Cell convener, stressed here on Sunday that stringent laws to fight terrorism would ensure speedy trial and punishment to culprits.

Addressing a ‘lawyers and intellectuals meet’, as part of the party’s ‘dharma yudh’ against the UPA government, she alleged that the Centre was ‘soft’ towards terrorists. The eminent lawyer ridiculed the UPA’s promise of ‘roti, kapada aur makaan’ to people and wondered how it could be implemented in the absence of security.

She referred to Saturday’s blast in New Delhi in which two persons were killed. Ms. Anand assured the gathering that the BJP-led NDA soon after it is voted to power would revive POTA.

N. Indrasena Reddy, party’s national secretary, and G. Kishan Reddy, MLA, and. N. Ramchander Rao, national joint convener of the cell, spoke.

Mr. Rao said such meetings were organised in 11 districts in the State so far in the first phase. In the next phase advocates/intellectuals would adopt militant posture by staging dharnas and filing PILs against the government.
