CPI contests claim on fertilizer supply

HYDERABAD: The Communist Party of India has criticised the Central and State government for failing to supply fertilizer to farmers in time.

CPI deputy general secretary and MP Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy contested the claims on supply of more fertilizer compared to previous years, pointing there was no need for the farmers to agitate if that were true. While fertilizer of all varieties was being sold at exorbitant prices in black market, the government had failed to conduct raids to bring out the hoarded stocks.

Mr. Sudhakar Reddy was speaking at the State committee meeting of the AP Ryotu Sangham here on Sunday. The meeting was presided over by Sangham president and CPI State secretariat member K. Ramakrishna. He exhorted the sangham members as well as the CPI cadre to stand by the side of the farmers in the hour of crisis.
