Doctors strike from today

HYDERABAD: Members of the Andhra Pradesh Government Doctors Association (APGDA) will boycott medical duties, except emergencies, at all government hospitals from Monday.

The doctors will attend medical emergency duties till Wednesday, before boycotting emergencies too.

The APGDA members are demanding implementation of recommendations of a high powered committee, which asks for a salary revision for non-teaching doctors on a par with Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) scale. On Sunday, APGDA secretary-general Dr. M. Neelakanteswara Rao said the strike was ‘on’.

“The government is not interested in implementing the committee recommendations,” Dr. Rao said.
