CHENNAI: An English spelling championship was conducted by the Bangalore-based Tanglewood Concepts at St. Raphael’s Higher Secondary School in Santhome here on Sunday.
Sixty-three students from four city schools studying in classes I to IX participated in the city round.
The children were divided into batches and passages were read out to them, from which they were asked to spell specific words.
Competition coordinator Abraham Varghese said that the results will be announced on Monday.
The final round would be held at Coimbatore on October 12.
Winners of the city round, held on Sunday, would be joining around 50 students, who have been selected from city-level championships conducted in Bangalore, Ernakulam, Calicut and Mysore, he added.
