KOZHIKODE: Six hospitals in the district have been selected for the Rashtriya Swasthya Bhima Yojana and the Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme for the economically weaker sections, a press release said. A sum of up to Rs.30,000 a year will be available for inpatient treatment of those below the poverty line. Five members of a family are eligible. The hospitals selected are the General Hospital (Beach), the taluk hospitals in Koyilandy and Vadakara and the Government hospitals in Nadapuram, Kuttiadi and Tamarassery. The scheme will be inaugurated in Alappuzha on October 2 A committee has been set up with the District Labour Officer (Enforcement) as convener, the District Medical Officer, the Panchayat Deputy Director and the Kudumbasree Mission Coordinator as members for implementing the schemes.
