Gaveesh, Vineesh, Sadanand shine

HYDERABAD: P. Gaveesh’s five for 56 helped Sai Satya record a four-wicket win over Osmania in the A-Division (two-day) league cricket championship match here on Saturday.

In other matches, Vineesh (six for 19) enabled CCMB score a six-wicket win over APSRTC while Y. Sadanand’s six-wicket haul fashioned Postal’s victory over IICT.

The scores:

A-Division (two-day): Osmania 214 (Abhishek Naidu 53, P. Gaveesh five for 56) lost to Sai Satya 216 for six (Siddhanth 41, G.V.R. Rohit 54, Saurabh Singh 51 not out).

A-Institutions: IDL 172 (N. Anil Kumar 44, Kishore 48, Ritesh Singh five for 68, Rajesh four for 72) bt Canara Bank 106 (N. Anil Kumar four for 17).

APSRTC 66 (Durga Prasad four for 14, Vineesh six for 19) lost to CCMB 67 for four.

Postal 132 (Srinivas four for 43) bt IICT 75 (Sridhar 42, Y. Sadanand six for 21).

ECIL 173 (M.S. Kiran 44, B.V. Ramana Murthy four for 42) bt NFC 96.

B-Division: Sungrace 156 for seven (P. Hemanth Rao 46 not out) lost to Manikumar 157 for nine (Tirupati four for 34).

C-Division: Concorde 235 for nine (I. Meher Prasad 114) bt XI Masters 81 (Durgesh four for 18).

Starlets 151 (Hemanth 50, Amar Yadav five for 44) lost to Swastik Union 152 for eight (Yaseen five for 42).

D-Division: Royal 102 lost to Lucky CC 106 for four (Sandeep 46).

Sudan wins trophy

Sudan won the Ramazan floodlit football tournament, organised by Foreign Students Association of Hyderabad, with a 2-0 win over Yemen in the final via tie-breaker at Sports Coaching Foundation (Masan Tank) here.

Venkateshwar Rao, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Asifnagar), gave away the prizes.

Rajesh, Sharat sizzle

Good knocks by Rajesh Chakravarthy (73 not out) and N. Sharat Mudiraj (59 not out) helped Team Yellow record an eight-wicket win over Combined Districts in the Hyderabad Cricket Association under-19 practice matches here on Friday and Saturday.

The scores:

Combined Districts 157 (Sai Kumar 60, Chandrakanth three for 31, Parashar three for 29) lost to Team Yellow 161 for two (Rajesh Chakravarthy 73 not out, N. Sharat Mudiraj 59 not out).

Team Green 181 for nine (Dhanaji Rao Shinde 42, Varun 31 not out, Shiva three for 42, Revanth Sai three for 15) lost to Team Red 182 for seven (Revanth Sai 57, R. C. Ratul 31, Nimeesh three for 38).

Combined Districts 170 lost to Team Purple 173 for two (Sai Raju 60, Rahul Ranout 86 not out).

Team Green 297 for six (Neeraj Bist 49, Nimeesh Reddy 103, Dhanaji Rao Shinde 44) bt Team Blue 196 for seven (Ashish Reddy 55, Sumanth 53 not out).

Team Yellow 244 for eight (Sandeep Rajan 55) bt Team Red 193 for seven (Anurag Reddy 53, Sivaramkrishna 54).

Basketball tournament

The Greater Hyderabad annual open basketball tournament commencing from September 29 to October 6 at Victory Playground, Hyderabad, has attracted 40 men and eight women’s teams.

APLTA life president

Raja Narasimha Rao was named life president of AP Lawn Tennis Association at its annual general bodying meeting here under the chairmanship of Dr. G. V. Krishna Reddy, president of APLTA. Rao has the unique record of being elected secretary of APLTA for 50 years without a break.

Pradeep does well

A.G. Pradeep scored a fine 91 (8x4, 3x6) in ACA President’s XI first innings total of 316 for five against Secretary’s XI in the Andhra Cricket Association Ranji Trophy selection match at the Port Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.

ACA Secretary’s XI 360 for eight in 90 overs vs. ACA President’s XI 316 for five in 85 overs (A.G. Pradeep 91, V. Sandeep 77, Balaji Kishen Singh 47 batting).
