Aditya Patel finishes seventh

CHENNAI: National champion in 2007 and a promising talent from Chennai, Aditya Patel was placed seventh overall in the first of the Formula BMW pacific races held for the first time in the night on Friday at the new Singapore Grand Prix Marina Bay street circuit.

With vehicle problems affecting him during the qualifiers, Aditya started 17th on the grid. But he drove exceedingly well to move up 10 places at the finish for a very creditable seventh place overall and third in rookies, according to a press release. The second race will be held on Sunday before the Formula 1 race.

It was a day of firsts as Formula BMW Pacific made history when the field of 17 became the first cars to take to the brand-new Marina Bay street circuit.
