Staff Reporter

KHAMMAM: The regional Joint Director of School Education, Lakshma Reddy, has ordered an inquiry into allegations of harassment of a girl student studying in ninth standard at Ricob Bazar Government high school in Khammam town by one of her teachers. Mr. Reddy said that different versions surfaced about the episode. A deputy educational officer was entrusted with the probe and if the teacher was proved guilty necessary action would be initiated against him. The DEO, Karim, recorded the statement of the girl who abstained from the school on the day. The teacher concerned went on leave. He was asked to appear before the enquiry officer. Sources said that parents of the girls, who took strong exception to the behaviour of the teacher, lodged a protest with the school headmaster .
