Staff Reporter
Another case filed against him for employing minor girl as maid
HYDERABAD: Mohana Krishna, doctor of Gandhi Hospital working in the department of Burns and Plastic Surgery, was arrested on Friday by the Tukaramgate police on charge of sexually harassing an 11-year-old girl working as maid in his house.
A separate case was registered against him by the Labour department officials for allegedly employing minor girl as maid.
The SI K. Venugopal said the doctor employed the girl hailing from Ennavelli of Khammam district to work in his house a few months ago through a broker Bhadraiah. The girl’s mother died recently while her father Nagaiah was working as labourer.
According to the details received from the Labour department officials and the girl’s statement, the doctor allegedly began sexually harassing the girl recently.
She fled the doctor’s house four days ago and was rescued by a voluntary organisation. Later, the organisation’s executives approached the Labour department and lodged a complaint against the doctor.
The Labour department officials registered a case under Child Labour Act and referred the matter to the police who registered a case under section 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman) of Indian Penal Code.
The doctor was arrested and produced before the magistrate.
