Border trade to begin soon: Jairam Ramesh

KOLKATA: Trade between India and Pakistan across the Line of Control on the Jammu- Kashmir border will start from October 21, and a Rs. 20 crore investment has been proposed to build infrastructure for smooth trading, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Power Jairam Ramesh said.
Talking to journalists on Friday, he said that the list of items have been agreed between the two Prime Ministers and will be made public very soon.
While a total cum of Rs. 20 crores would be spent within the next 12 months to create trade-related infrastructure, to start with Rs. five crores has been sanctioned for building border infrastructure.
The Minister was here in connection with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Damodar Valley Corporation and Tata Power and the inauguration of a perishable cargo facility at the airport.
