Chitradurga: The Chitradurga Neeravari Horata Samiti has said it has received “widespread response” for its “Bagina Yatra” programme scheduled to be held on September 29 at the Bhadra canal in Bhadravati taluk of Shimoga district. Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, president of the samiti M. Jayanna said that the programme was being organised in connection with the agitation launched by the samiti to demand implementation of the Upper Bhadra Irrigation Project in the district. The yatra was aimed at educating people about the significance of the project for the district, he said. Mr. Jayanna said that the yatra would be launched on Saturday from Hosadurga taluk by Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Gulihatti Shekhar. The yarta would cover Hiriyur and Challakere taluks on the same day. It would reach Chitradurga taluk on September 29 after covering Molakalmur, and proceed to Bhadravati taluk, he said. Mr. Jayanna said that the samiti was expecting over 1,000 people to participate in the yatra.
