Branch opened

Karur Vysya Bank has opened a branch at Vadavalli. This is 299th branch of the bank and the next one will be in Nagpur. The bank introduced core banking solutions in all the branches in 2005 and extends all the technological banking services.

State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur has opened a branch at Ganapathy. Hamsini Menon, its General

Manager (Operations), urged the customers to make use of the SMS alert facilities. As part of its social obligations, the bank has adopted one girl (by each branch) studying

in the Government school.

The Ganapathy branch has opened about 600 deposit accounts.

Office-bearers

D. Gandhikumar, former president of the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association, has been elected president of the Tamil Nadu Small and Tiney Industries Association for 2008-2010. C. Muthusami, also a former president of the CODISSIA has been elected vice-president for Coimbatore region.

P.D. Damodaran, Managing Director of Durairaj Mills, Pasur, has been re-elected chairman of the SIMA- Cotton Development and Research Association for 2008-2009. the other office-bearers are: V. Selvapathy, Managing Director of Pongalur Pioneer Textiles and T. Rajkumar, executive director of Sri Bhagavathi Textiles, Chittur (vice-presidents).

Demand

The Coimbatore Wet Grinders and Accessories Manfuacturers’ Association has sought implementation of reduction in Maximum Demand charges for HT consumers and Unit reduction for LT consumers. It also sought equal distribution of the power shortage to all consumers.

These were the resolutions passed at the annual general meeting of the association. K. Pandian of Intec

Engineering was elected the president of the association. K. Soundarakumar of Royal Prime Movers was elected the secretary.

Office opened

Aegon Religare Life Insurance has opened its branch on the third floor of Mayflower Mid City, 1510, Trichy Road. Coimbatore has a high potential for retail growth and the company sees a big opportunity in this growing market, according to a release.

Workshop

Coimbatore Industrial Infrastructure Association organised a workshop on design for manufacturability for the engineering design professionals. Engineering units here employ about 1,500 design professionals. The workshop was to enhance their skills.
