Police rescue camel

BANGALORE: A camel that was being transported illegally was rescued by the Channapatna police who intercepted the vehicle carrying the animal on Mysore Road on Wednesday. The police have arrested Nawab Khan of Padarayanapura in this connection. The police said the accused had sold many camels in various parts of the State. According to rules, it is mandatory that camel owners keep required certificates while transporting the animals. They have to keep valid transportation certificate as per rule 96 of Transport of Animal Rules, 2001. After interrogation, the police found that the accused did not have any requisite certificates.

Boy drowned

A four-year-old boy drowned after he fell in a raja kaluve on Wednesday. The police said the incident took place at Ahammad Nagar near Gangondanahalli around 9 a.m.

The victim has been identified as Arbaaz Khan of Fifth Cross in Ahammad Nagar. He fell into the canal while playing.

Vehicles recovered

The Jagjivan Ram Nagar police have arrested a person and recovered five stolen cars estimated at Rs. 17 lakh from the accused. The arrested Nawaz Pasha (30), owner of Nadeem garage in Channapattana, is said to be a habitual offender. He used to operate with Khaleel alias RTO Khaleel, who is now reported to be absconding. The accused had sold four-wheelers in Chennapattana and in West of Chord Road.

Burglary

A burglar broke into a house and took away two laptops, a digital camera and a mobile phone. The Ulsoor police said the thief entered the house of Akash, an employee with a private firm in Domlur Layout and made away with electronic gadgets.

Robbed

A pre-university student was robbed of his mobile phone at Richard Park near Fraser Town on Tuesday. According to Fraser Town police, Syed Waseem Pasha was returning home from a mosque when four persons waylaid him and snatched his mobile phone.

Chain snatched

A woman, who was sleeping near a window in her house, was robbed of a gold chain on Wednesday. Pushpalatha of Supraja Nagar told Subramanyapura police that around 5.30 p.m., a man attempted to snatch her chain through the window. She woke and bit his hand hard, but broke her teeth. Startled when blood started oozing from her mouth, Pushpalatha bent down.

Taking advantage of this, the accused managed to escape, the police said.

Boy killed

A 11-year-old boy died on the spot when a gas tanker hit him near Savany Petrol Bunk on NH 4 on Tuesday night. The Peenya traffic police have seized the tanker and are investigating the case.
