CPI alleges neglect of poor

City secretary of Communist Party of India (CPI) K. Subbaraju on Wednesday criticised the State Government and authorities of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation for what he alleged as ‘gross neglect’ of the poorest of the poor.

Addressing a gathering at Kandrika in the 59th division of the VMC where the padayatra launched by the CPI reached on Wednesday, he said the economically backward sections continued to suffer in the absence of basic amenities while politicians kept themselves confined to making ‘empty’ promises. The Padayatra is aimed at bringing pressure on the Government to find a permanent solution to the perennial flooding of Budameru.
