Ambassadors of goodwill

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: All the way from Manipur, 23 students of the Bharat Scouts and Guides toured Bangalore and the historical cities of Mysore and Hampi to soak in the culture in this part of the country.

The educational tour for these 23 students conducted under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) and 39 Assam Rifles ended on Wednesday after they covered 1,350 km, hoping to be ambassadors of goodwill, unity and peace.

The Parachute Regiment Training Centre Bangalore gave the logistical support to the tour that commenced on September 13, a release said.

It said that the Assam Rifles being the oldest paramilitary force, in the thick of insurgency in the North East, came up with this unique project to win its fight against insurgency.

The students, who were from insurgency-prone areas and economically weak backgrounds, hoped to take back what they saw and share it with the people of their State, the release added.
