ADILABAD: Banking services in Adilabad were paralysed on Wednesday as officers and other staff of nationalised banks went on strike in support of the demands of the different banking sector trade unions. About 200 officers and employees owing allegiance to the All-India Bank Officers Association and the All-India Bank Employees Association gathered at the SBH regional office and raised slogans. Adilabad Bank Employees coordination committee secretary M. Vijender said bankers were opposed to privatisation of the banking sector . He demanded the government not to encourage unrestricted entry of Foreign Direct Investment in banking sector. Among the other demands were implementation of bipartite settlement, compassionate appointments etc. DharnaKARIMNAGAR: Responding to the two-day strike call given by the United Forum of Bank Unions, State Bank of India, Karimnagar main branch employees staged a dharna and participated in the strike opposing privatization of banks.
