Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: A United Democratic Front (UDF) delegation, led by Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy will visit Chengara on Thursday on a fact-finding mission. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday soon after a meeting of the coalition’s high power committee, UDF convener P.P. Thankachan said Mr. Chandy would be accompanied by Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan, Adoor Prakash (Congress), Joseph M. Puthuserry (Kerala Congress-M), C.P. John (CMP), Rajan Babu ( JSS), Johnny Nellore (Kerala Congress-Jacob) and Babu Divakaran (RSP-M). The delegation would hold discussions with the agitators and later submit a report to the government, he said. Mr. Hassan said the Chengara stir was nearly one year old and it did not behove a democratically elected government to ignore it. It was possible that the government could not accept all their demands, but it should at least keep the channels of discussions open.
