Sheffield United wins claim
LONDON: Sheffield United has won its claim for compensation from West Ham over the eligibility of Argentine striker Carlos Tevez.
Sheffield United says a Football Association arbitration panel ruled in its favour.
The club was relegated at the end of the 2006-07 season, when the Hammers beat Manchester United on the final day of the campaign. The result ensured that West Ham stayed in the Premier League while Sheffield United went down.
The Premier League fined West Ham, ruling that Tevez and Javier Mascherano should have been ineligible to play under third-party ownership rules.
The amount of compensation for Sheffield United is unclear, but newspaper reports said on Tuesday that it could be about £ 30 million. — AP
