T’puram triumphs

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram won the South Zone under-19 inter-district cricket tournament here on Tuesday.

Thiruvananthapuram, which took the first innings lead in its last league match against Kottayam, finished at the top with 11 points. Kottayam denied the host an outright win, but conceded the first innings lead which was enough for Thiruvananthapuram to clinch the title.

The scores: Thiruvananthapuram 316 drew with Kottayam 191 in 53.3 overs (Jaison 61, Bindhu 59, Sahin three for 40, Sajan Salim three for 40) & 142 for seven in 56 overs (Govind 51, Boban 39 n.o.)
