Biswas resigns from Rajya Sabha
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: All India Forward Bloc general Secretary Debabrata Biswas resigned on Tuesday from the Rajya Sabha. Mr. Biswas was elected to the House from West Bengal.
Mr. Biswas told The Hindu that he put in his papers in pursuance of the party thesis of “one man one post.”
He said the decision was following organisational thesis adopted at the 15th Congress.
Mr. Biswas said he decided to devote his energies for organisational work and strengthen the Left movement in the country. The party has decided to nominate senior leader Barun Mukherjee against the vacancy, he said. Mr. Biswas met Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari and handed over his resignation, which has since been accepted, according to a Rajya Sabha bulletin.
