Elvis puts Army Boys in final

NEW DELHI: Elvis Kipgen scored the match-winner as Army Boys Company, Bangalore defeated Town High School, Sundergarh, 1-0 in the semifinals of the junior section in the Subroto Cup football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Tuesday.

In another match in the junior section, K. Lalawmpuia scored the match-winner in extra time as Government Central Higher Secondary School, Mizoram, moved into the final with a 2-1 victory over Sports Authority of India (SAI), Kolkata.

Earlier, Abhishek Debnath found the equaliser for the SAI team after Joseph Lalmunpuia had put the Mizoram team ahead.

In the sub-junior section, Green Wood Higher Secondary School, Nagaland, beat Army Boys Company, Lucknow, 2-1.

Tingmjek scored both the goals for the winner and the lone goal for the loser came through Pranav Rai.

In the other semifinal, Salman Shah and Mohammed Ratul Islam scored a goal each as Bangladesh Krira Shiksha Protisthan, Dhaka, beat St. Ignatius Higher Secondary School, Gumla, 2-0.
