Surya scores century

VIJAYAWADA: Surya’s unbeaten 103 for South Zone against Central Zone was the highlight of the final day’s play in the ACA inter-zonal under-14 cricket tournament for the D. Venkateswara Rao Trophy at Anantapur.

The tournament resumes on Wednesday.

The scores: South Zone 341 & 210 for four decl. in 78 overs (Surya 103 n.o.) drew with Central Zone 242 & 126 for four in 41 overs (Koutilya Kumar Goud 57, Surendra Babu 54, Manoj three for 31).

Balasai in final

Kurnool’s Balasai International School and Chittoor’s Vivekananda English Medium School entered the final, defeating Nellore’s Ratnam High School and Vizag’s Delhi Public School respectively in the semifinals of the ACA inter-district Schools tournament, here on Monday.

Balasai medium-pacer B. Swamy Naik emerged as star performer picking up nine wickets.

The scores: Balasai IS (Kurnool) 134 in 28.2 overs (Y. Pranav Kumar four for 28) bt Ratnam HS (Nellore) 32 in 11 overs (B. Swamy Naik nine for 19); Viveknanda EMS (Chittoor) 245 in 43.2 overs (M. Uday Kumar 73, G. Dinesh 50, O. Arun three for 32) bt Delhi Public School (Vizag) 91 in 28.3 overs (S. Karan 71, S. Zakeer Basha six for 20).

VDCA registration

Teams desirous of participating in the VDCA institutions league have to complete registration of their players with VDCA, on or before September 30, according to a press release from VDCA joint secretary A.P. Naidu in Visakhapatnam on Monday.
