KSP on a roll

BANGALORE: Karnataka State Police (KSP) seemed to have reserved its best for the best team in the league. For Sports Authority of India (SAI) playing at its own ground had done well thus far in the first phase of the State super-division hockey league. But on Monday, KSP was on a roll and SAI lost 1-3.

KSP, after losing to PCTC, needed a win to be in contention for a berth to the second phase. And it did just that, punishing the hapless SAI boys for the slightest of errors.

Mahesh began the account with a 17th minute goal before Pradeep (25th) and Mudgar (52nd) increased the tally. Mudappa scored the only goal for SAI in the 58th minute.

KSP now has seven points from four matches while SAI, which has four points, will need to win both its remaining matches to be counted. The top two teams from the six in the first phase make it to the next phase, which includes eight teams directly seeded.

Other results: MEG 3 (Dinesh Tirkey, Ravi Kunjappa 2) bt Centre of Excellence 0.
