Drive against violations

Coimbatore: During a three-day drive against road rule violations from September 13 to 15, the City Traffic Police registered 1,266 cases of violation of road rules .

A fine of Rs 1.47 lakhs was realised.

About 26 cases of drunken driving, 16 cases of using cellular phone while driving, 12 cases for plying without valid insurance cover, 19 cases of over speeding, 67 cases of driving without valid driving licence, seven cases of using cargo vehicles for transporting passengers, 11 cases of overloading , seven cases of overshooting the height restriction, 57 cases of overloading cargo beyond the permitted length at the rear of the trucks and 11 cases of allowing passengers to travel on bus foot boards were registered.

The drive against road rule violations will be sustained and stepped up.
