Gold coins, cash stolen from house in Mylapore

CHENNAI: A total of 13 gold coins and Rs. 20,000 were allegedly stolen from a house in Mylapore on Friday.
According to the police, Sadasivam (55), a milk vendor of New Street, had lodged a complaint that he left home early on Friday to distribute milk.
When he returned, the door was open and the almirah ransacked.
45 sovereigns stolen
About 45 sovereigns of gold ornaments were allegedly stolen from a house in Anna Nagar here on Saturday. Police said N.K. Maya (42) of Anna Adarsh, whose husband works as a Marine Engineer, had lodged a complaint that the jewels kept in a wooden cupboard were missing when the family woke up on Saturday morning.
Found dead
A vegetable vendor was found dead at Korukkupet here on Saturday.
Police said the victim, M. Ezhumalai (32) of Meenambal Nagar, went out with his friends on Friday night and did not return.
Early the next day, his body, with a severe head injury, was found behind a Indian Made Foreign Liquor outlet.
3-year-old dies
S. Akash (3) of Manali, who drank kerosene mistaking it for water on Friday, was admitted to the Children’s Hospital, Egmore.
He died on Saturday.
