KARUR: It has been planned to sell saris and dress materials worth Rs. 20 lakh through Co-optex showroom in Karur district, according to District Collector T.N. Venkatesh.

Speaking after launching the Deepavali special sale at the Co-optex showroom at Jawahar Bazaar here on Friday, Mr. Venkatesh expressed hope that the sales would top last year’s achievement of Rs. 16.49 lakh easily. Government servants could make use of the handloom advance to purchase dress materials and textiles at the Co-optex showroom, he added.

Stating that Co-optex has provided the lifeline to several thousand weavers over the past several decades, Mr. Venkatesh called upon the public to make the best use of the special rebate announced for the festival season ahead.

Regional Manager C. Selvaraj said that sari varieties ranged from Rs. 300 to over Rs. 10,000 to suit needs of various customers. New arrivals have boosted the design collection, he added.
