B4 triumphs

KOCHI: Bangalore’s B4 defeated Chari’s, Chennai, by 42 IMPs and won the team of four duplicate event in the South Zone bridge championship at the Regional Sports Centre, Kadavanthra, on Saturday night.

“This is our maiden victory,” said Manoj Kumar, the B4 captain.

“We thought we didn’t have a good set. They had a couple of opportunities, one of them they didn’t capitalise on.”

C. Krishna, Godwin Jeyaseelan and Subhransu Patnaik are the other members of the victorious team. The Bangalore team had upset defending champion GKS, Chennai, in the semifinals earlier.

B4, Bangalore (Manoj Kumar, C. Krishna, Godwin Jeyaseelan, Subhransu Patnaik) bt Chari’s, Chennai (K. Natarajan, T.T. Chari, A. Viswanathan, Thyagarajan, S. Krishnan, A. Mahadevan) by 42 IMPs.

Semifinals:

B4 bt GKS, Chennai (R.N. Subramanian, V. Suryanarayana, P. Narayan Iyer, Kalyani Iswaran) by 32 IMPs. Chari’s bt Chennai Online (L. Subramanian, N. Periaswamy, L. Ravichandran, C.Rangarajan, Saravanan, R.N. Kumarappan) by 30 IMPs. — Principal Correspondent
