MNS demands closure of artwork exhibition

Staff Reporter

Mumbai: A group of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists protested outside the Museum Gallery at Kala Ghoda, Mumbai, on Friday, where an exhibition of ceramic artwork was on.

Police at the venue said that around 25 MNS activists demanded that the exhibition must be closed down.

They said that some of the work had Goddesses etched on tiles shaped like chappals. After the ruckus, the gallery was closed for the day.

Confiscated

The police confiscated two art pieces and took them to the Colaba police station for examination.

K.L. Prasad, Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), told The Hindu that 20 MNS activists were arrested for unlawful assembly and that a case was being registered.
