BJP-AGP tie-up may be finalised by month-end

Guwahati: The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party is hopeful of finalising by this month-end a tie-up with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) for the coming Lok Sabha election.

This was stated by the BJP’s State unit president Ramendra Narayan Deka here on Thursday.

Mr. Deka told journalists that the party was likely to decide its electoral strategy during the scheduled visit of senior party leader L.K. Advani to Assam on September 28.

Mr. Advani is scheduled to address a rally here that day to kick off the party’s election campaign. Both the parties had held several rounds of discussions and formed groups to negotiate modalities for a possible tie- up.
