Bangalore: A part of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium complex will be affected due to the construction work of the proposed Bangalore Metro Rail transit in the forthcoming months. The affected parts will include a section of the KSCA (B) ground, where the railway line goes underground and the tennis courts and generator room, where there will be pillars for the elevated portion of the mass transit system. However, the main stadium which will soon host the first Test against Australia here from October 9 will not be affected. “The Metro officials have said that once the underground work is complete they will return the portion of the KSCA (B) ground which they have ear-marked for construction work. “As for the tennis courts and generator room, we might have to scout for alternate spots within our complex. We don’t know when the metro work will commence as the concerned officials are yet to make an official statement,” said Brijesh Patel, KSCA Secretary, on the sidelines of a function, here on Thursday. — Principal Correspondent
