Task force to recover wakf properties

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: The State Government has decided to constitute a special task force for recovering over 18,000 wakf properties that have been encroached upon in the State.

Addressing presspersons on Wednesday, Minister for Haj, Wakfs and Minorities Welfare Mumtaz Ali Khan said that the task force would identify encroached properties and recover them with the help of the police. The Rs. 2 crore earmarked in the budget for development of wakf properties was too small; a loan of Rs. 100 crore would be raised, Dr. Khan said.
