B. Muralidhar Reddy

COLOMBO: The Sri Lanka Navy on Thursday released 32 Indian fishermen and six minors “detected” in northern Sri Lankan waters.

The navy said in a statement that it took prompt action to hand over the 38 persons as a gesture of goodwill and to foster the friendly relations with India.

The fisher folk boarded the Indian Coast Guard Vessel “Kittur Chennamma” at the International Maritime Boundary Line. They were found in the Sri Lankan territorial waters after crossing the line, the statement said.
