This is with reference to the news report, “Am I drunk, asks Patil” (September 17). Shivraj Patil is the “favourite” of the Congress high command and how can he expect it to ask him to quit? He should quit himself, admitting his lapses. Though his daily dressing styles are his personal matter, criticisms will come and he necessarily has to face them in the background of the gross mishandling of the issue of terrorism. B.Vathsalan, Chennai The beauty of this democracy can only be preserved if the present ministers learn from their predecessors who promptly resigned in the wake of major calamities.
