All-round display by Beerappa

Bangalore: Beerappa’s all-round show (59 and four for 26) helped BEL Colony RC defeat Southern Cricketers by 32 runs in a KSCA Group I, fourth division league match here recently.

The scores: BEL Colony RC 225 in 49.1 overs (Harsha 68, Beerappa 59, Amit Garg five for 37) bt Southern Cricketers 193 in 47.2 overs (Santosh 47, Beerappa four for 26).

New National CC 233 in 46.3 overs (Javeed 54, Wajid 49, Parweez 43, James six for 54) lost to Oriental CC 234 for seven in 48 overs (John 61 n.o., Raja six for 68).

Young Pioneer CC 168 in 48.1 overs (Sunil five for 60) bt Sangam CA 167 in 34.3 overs (Anand Kammar six for 39).

Jeevan Bhimanaagar 210 in 47.5 overs (Satish 67, Ganpathi 50, Sandeep five for 78, Naseeruddin four for 66) lost to Friends XI CC, D’pura 214 for eight in 46 overs (Prithvi 76, Yausif 44).

YFA SC 235 in 49.2 overs (Sathya Prasad 58 n.o., Raghavendra 42, Prasad five for 78) lost to Vikram CC 237 for five in 39.3 overs (Sanjith 125).

Minerva CC 264 in 49.5 overs (Sharavana 145, Ramesh 47, Nazir six for 75) bt Crescent CC (2) 248 in 48 overs (Khan 73, Aman Raj 64, Rajesh four for 82).

Ganesh to lead

Ganesh Satish will lead Karnataka in the Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy under-22 tournament at Bangalore and Chennai from October 1 to 28.

Rahul triumphs

Tamil Nadu’s Rahul Solanki won the singles title here in the KSTBA tenpin bowling league. Rahul notched up 1208 in six games, averaging 201.33.

Andhra’s Vijay Dasari trailed behind by 50 pins while former National champion Srinath Pobbathi of Karnataka finished third, 63 pins behind Rahul.

In the games played on the long oil pattern, Rahul opened well with 207, 245, 213, 206 in his first four games and maintained the lead.

Karthik bats well

A well-compiled innings of 73 by R. Karthik helped SJCE register a 100-run win over SBRR Mahajana FGC and enter the final of the Mysore University inter-collegiate cricket tournament in Mysore on Tuesday.

The scores (semifinals): SJCE 209 for six in 30 overs (R. Karthik 73) bt SBRR Mahajana FGC 109 in 26 overs.

JSS Medical College 102 in 24.2 overs lost to TTL Business Management 103 for two in 23.4 overs.

Easy for SBRR

A brace each by left-in Abdillah (10th & 45th) and centre-forward Mahith (20th & 40th) helped SBRR Mahajana FGC register a 4-0 win over PES Science College, Mandya, to enter the pre-quarterfinals of the inter-collegiate football tournament for the Chief Justice Homegowda Memorial Gold Cup in Mysore on Tuesday.

The results: SBRR Mahajana FGC bt PES Science 4-0; JSS (Law) bt Basudeva Somani FGC 2-1; Maharaja’s FGC bt Pooja Bhagavath Mahajana PG Centre 5-0; PG Sports Council bt D. Bhanumiah’s College 7-0.

Chess championship

The State u-17 chess championship for boys and girls will be held at the State Youth Centre in Bangalore from September 26 to 28. The tournament will also serve as a selection trial for the State team which will compete in the National championship at Aurangabad from October 7. For details, call R. Hanumantha, ph: 26612184.

Cricket tournament
