Youth assaulted and robbed

NAMAKKAL: A group of four unidentified persons assaulted a youth and robbed a sum of Rs. 6.60 lakh from him in Santhaipettai Puthur here on Tuesday.

Police said Ravikumar (29), an employee of a egg trading firm, was on the way to a bank branch, when the group blocked his way and assaulted him.

They robbed the cash before fleeing the spot. Ravikumar sustained injuries and was admitted to a private hospital in Namakkal.

A case has been registered.
